WHY IS THE ONE-PIECE SNORKEL/MASK A BAD IDEA ???

  1. The tighter fitting head straps make it harder to pull off in an emergency

  2. Carbon dioxide build-up causes snorkelers to become light-headed, dizzy, and/or disoriented.

  3. Some snorkeling charters do not allow full face snorkel masks due to potential risks.

  4. It is difficult to clear water or fog from the mask.

  5. It is difficult to clear your ears with the Valsalva maneuver.

  6. Difficult to find the perfect fitting mask.

The Osborne Reef is an artificial reef off the coast of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Originally constructed of concrete jacks, it was the subject of an ambitious expansion project utilizing old and discarded tires. The expansion ultimately failed, and the reef has come to be considered an environmental disaster - ultimately doing more harm than good in the coastal Florida waters.
